VMY Go Green in Sungai Sedim, Kedah

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

I was invited to join for and event held by Malaysia Tourism and Discovery Sport. Honestly, I have very little information on what it is all about. All I knew, was that it was going to be something I’d enjoy, and that it was related to the outdoors.

So I went, not knowing what awaits, but at least I had a friend with me, and that is always a plus.

In a whole, it was great. I get to do a lot of things there, things that I enjoyed very much.

There were abseiling, rope ascending, rope traversing, flying fox, obstacle course, cycling, tubbing. And every team of four would compete, and I’m not so sure on how many teams there were, but there were a lot.

It was held in Sungai Sedim near Kulim in which I went to a boarding school there, so it was nice to have that feeling of going back there.

The first day, it was pouring rain, but that didn’t stop us from doing what we had to do, which was to win the competition. We also had to camp outside (which was pretty sweet) with tents and all, and were supposed to cook our own meals. I was on the Artiste team of four, and we were taken care of pretty well. We had tents and meals, everything taken care of, so we had no problems. Honestly, it wouldn’t have been any different either way. I’d like to think that I have enough skills to survive moderately when going camping.

My team consists of 4 members. 2 recording artistes, a bass player from a band, and I. I knew Elyana well enough to know that she’d be okay with everything. Aesar and Hafiz on the other hand, I don’t know them that well enough to know what to expect from them. But they were so easy to work with, I’m telling you. And they did more than great. For most event that required us to work in pairs, my partner in crime, Hafiz, performed extraordinary. I knew he’d be good at this, but he was actually great, not just good. He and I worked so well together, that by the end of one event, I couldn’t stop smiling because we managed to do, just what we wanted, and the outcome were even better.

The second day started differently. A friend was getting married, and the reception were done there. Right after that, we had a series of competitions waiting for us. For the cycling/tubbing discipline, Elyana was my partner, and she was great too. We qualified, just in time to finish the whole thing. She cycled, ran, carried a durian, paddled, answered questions, and even did some weight lifting as well. Her points just went through the roof in my eyes after that.

I never thought I’d have so much fun at the event. I met an old acquittance, Pyan too. It wasn’t entirely a surprise, I knew it’d be his thing too (and his team won 1st place overall).

I met a lot of people that shared the same thing that I love too. And I’m looking forward to see them again. I’m sure I will.

Oh, did I mention my team got a decent placing/ranking in the competition too? I hope we made our fellows actors and actresses proud.

Sex and the City (2008)

Sex and the City (2008)

Let me confess, well, I watched the movie on a DVD before going to the cinema to watch it with my friends. Wanted to see if any of the deleted scenes made any difference to the movie in a whole. ;)

Samantha’s story maybe, but the rest, not that much. I guess audience here wouldn’t know what really triggered Samantha’s action, other than the fact (yang semua orang sudah tahu) that she loves sex. But why after 5 years did she decided to go back to her ownself? Well, I guess thats the missing piece. But honestly, something you could live without throughout the movie.

I’ll try to keep in mind that this is just a movie, and it plays with your emotions as well as your imaginations to understand what each and every girl had to go through.

The whole story, of course revolves around Carrie. I think she got it easy. The highlight of the whole movie, and she doesn’t even have to do full frontal. Haha. Anyway, after her off and on relationship with Big, I guess she deserves that kind of ending, simply because she needed to. I think most girls would still fall head over heels, and would rather have a proposal, then a closet blueprint.
I keep on wondering, if Carrie really truly does want the things she want (selain Big), or she’s wanting the things, she thought Big would want her to want so that he’ll want her. Hmmm..

And there’s Charlotte, every guys dream girl. Hmm.. She dresses, acts, talks nicely, and she’s not all that bad looking. The one that would want to stay at home and take care of the kids. Of all the girls, I’d fall in love with her instantly. To me, I look at her and I think, “Damn, I’d do anything to make this girl happy..”. Macam tu la lebih kurang.

When it comes to relationships, I think Miranda’s is a classic one. Moving to Brooklyn, having a kid, got married. A career, a husband, a kid, a nanny, a house. So I guess people (girls!!) could relate more on what she is going through. Changing yourself for that someone. But sometimes, I guess she forgot that she is in fact in love with Steve. None of that really matter when you love that someone and you believe you guys are meant to be together, kan?
I love that they are in love. So, that’s that.

All in all, the movie was a great addition to the series. Its not easy to move from a small screen to a much bigger one without disappointing at least half of the regular audience.
The first 15-minutes of introduction was done perfectly to sum up each and every character. And I love the fact that they started the movie using a line from the very first episode. (If I’m not mistaken..).

Sex and The City

By the way, it was like seeing a summer/winter/fall/autumn fashion show, which don’t get me wrong, was really nice. But you can see that they really wanted to be in the movie, the designers and all. It just had to be in all the scenes, let it be at home, at the store, at Carrie’s apartment, the time she wanted to move, the time she had to unpack. I’m a fashion retard, so all I see is beautiful people wearing beautiful stuff, but I couldn’t understand the whole thing about paying a loooooooooot of money for a shoe.

Someone told me, they could have taken the movie, and just show it on TV rather than creating way too much buzz and promotion about a ‘film’ when there is nothing much to promote about. I’m not gonna go into that, simply because, what makes a good movie. The script. Something new that the audience have never thought of. But this is taken out of a series, so people do know the characters, and what they are like.

You cannot be surprised at an expected attack, no matter how, because you just know. So…

I liked the movie, I think it wasn’t a total waste.

So let me know what you think..

Ancient Myspace Account

Ancient Myspace Account

Well, I’m in the midst of updating certain things on the site, so there’s not gonna be a lot of updates until I am fully satisfied with its layout (which would probably be never!).

I’m always trying to figure out the simplest way, and the simplest layout, but couldn’t agree on one. I’m trying to make sure the main section is wider, cause its all cramped right now, and I don’t like what I’m seeing.

All I can say for now, is that I’ve taken down my Myspace account, and also my Friendster account, which I must say, is a big relief. Its a big step, but not really one that made much impact on my life. More on that later.

Went for the Rainforest World Music Festival recently, and that was an experience. Also, Insyallah, I’ll write something on that as well.

Did I mention that I went to Lata Hammers (again!) with some of my close friends, and it was great. Not much to write on that, but perhaps some pictures would be suffice.

And I did a supporting role for a raya telemovie, which should air (bila lagi..) during raya. And I’m telling you, it was one of the longest line I’ve had to deliver, yet one of the best lessons (on acting) I’ve learned. No pictures but hoping to get some from the production soon.

A raya photoshoot for a local newspaper (apparently, everything is about raya, although its not yet Ramadhan) with the beautiful cast from Bella.

So later yaa..
